The Jewish rulers were anxious to have Jesus put to death before the people were aware of it, so when they had agreed that Jesus had committed blasphemy they brought Him before Pilate, early in the morning.

As Jesus told Pilate that he would have no power if it was not given of God, we need to see that Jesus willingly gave himself to do the will of His Father for the salvation of His people.
