Here now was a prophet who had a tender heart towards the coming destruction of Judah. It was a time of terror and terrible grief, but Judah’s idolatry, Sabbath breaking, and covetous were worse than ever. Habakkuk saw this and cried out to God to intervene. Then God told him of the terrible judgment that was soon to come, and Habakkuk trembled again.
