In this lesson we look at how God sends comforting words to his people of Judah, who are now in captivity in Babylon. First they were themselves conquered and carried away as slaves, and now they have received word that Jerusalem and the Temple have been destroyed. This was most devastating news indeed. They needed to know that God did this because of their sin, so God sends Ezekiel to convict them and call them to repentance. But in his great love and mercy, God also promises, through Ezekiel’s visions, to give them a new heart and restore them one day.
